A few facts about time.

There are 365 days in a year. (366 days in a leap year.)
There are 12 months in a year.
A month is about 30 days. (The months are not all the same length.)
There are 52 weeks in a year.
A week is 7 days.
There are 24 hours in a day.
An hour is 60 minutes.
A minute is 60 seconds.

 

Let's look at some clocks.

Here we see two types of clocks.

Both the clocks show the same time. 
  • The time is 10 minutes past 10  
  • or we could say 50 minutes to 11 .

 

 

Half an hour or 30 minutes later:

  • Now the time is 40 minutes past 10   
  • or 20 minutes to 11 .
